Frequently asked questions
Do I have to adjust the times within the standard default programs to reflect the 15% reduction for continuous horizontal rotation?
Default programs do not include the -15% reduction needed for rotational agitation. Please do the deductions as you would for rotational agitation.
This is becoming an option in one of the next software updates, but not included yet.
How much chemicals should I use for my development in X Paterson tank?
Use the following table for rotational agitation for 135 or 110 format film.
Large formats fluid amount info will be published separately on the box or with the reel user manual.
Is AGO Film Processor compatible with all size Paterson tanks?
AGO Film Processor is compatible with all size Paterson Super System 4 tanks from the tiny 1-reel tank up to the biggest 8-reel tank.
However you should make sure your Paterson tank is a later model. Having an old Paterson tank with old central column might lead to not developed film.

My film did not get developed
Make sure your Paterson tank is a later model. Having an old Paterson tank with old central column might lead to not developed film. Learn more here how to detect if you have a new or old Paterson tank central column:
I have a leakage
First: Make sure you have attached AGO properly. The best practices can be found in our AGO user manual under “Assembling”. Download manual at www.vintagevisual.eu/support/
Second: Make sure your Paterson tank’s red edge is not leaking between the tank’s black side and red plastic ring. If you find this to be the problem, you can fix your tank with some superglue or a silicone based glue.
AGO making a rattling sound when shaken
AGO processor has an in built tilt sensor which can make a small noise as if there was a small metallic ball loose inside the machine.
However if you hear a bigger sound like something bigger is loose then contact support@vintagevisual.eu for a warranty check-up and instructions.
I used my 8-reel tank and the films from the very bottom of the tank were under-developed or had another issue
Firstly: The problem may be caused by using the AP type reel in the very bottom of the tank. In the bottom two spots use the original Paterson reel only as the AP reel might get stuck against the side of the tank.
Secondly: Make sure you’ve used enough developer for the tank size.
If these don’t seem to be the cause of the issue, please contact support@vintagevisual.eu for further diagnosis of the problem.
I believe the thermometer needs calibration. It looks like my unit is reading low, causing excessive processing time.
Usually the temperature drops quite a lot when you pour the first chemical into the cold tank. To be sure that the temperature sensor is off, please perform a test.
Prepare a warm water. Attach Paterson tank to AGO and pour in the water in horizontal orientation. Compare the temperature shown with another thermometer (preferrably two).
Contact support@vintagevisual.eu if test confirms that temperature sensor is not reading right.
