REEL 4x5 Developing Reel
A developing reel for 4x5 inch large format film. Holds up to 4 sheets per reel, compatible with Paterson 3 tanks and larger.
Loading Instructions
Insert film into the reel carefully while gently bending the film. Avoid scratching the film against the centrepiece hooks. This reel holds up to 4 sheets of 4x5 film.
Step 1 Insert the first sheet
Place the reel vertically on a surface and insert the film sheet.
Step 2 Secure the film
Push the film in until it is secured behind the hook.
Step 3 Repeat for remaining sheets
Rotate the reel 90 degrees and repeat the process for each additional sheet.

Tip: Avoiding scratches on delicate films
Ilford sheet films such as HP5+ scratch easily. When loading and unloading, practice using your thumb to lift the centre hook slightly off the film so your thumb sits partially between the film and the hook.

Troubleshooting
Streaks or a line running across the film
- Make sure you have placed the film emulsion side towards the centre of the reel
- Make sure you have used the correct chemical volume as shown in the chemical guidance above
