The Bellini Cyanotype Kit produces classic Prussian-blue contact prints from negatives, plant material, or any opaque object placed on coated paper. The two parts are mixed 1:1 immediately before use; the resulting solution is brushed onto watercolour paper, dried in the dark, exposed to UV light (sunlight or a UV lamp), and developed in plain water. The cyanotype process is one of the oldest photographic techniques (Herschel, 1842) and the simplest entry into hand-coated alternative-process printing.

Bottle capacity: 500 ml of Part A and 500 ml of Part B. Mixed together yields approximately 1 litre of working sensitiser, enough to coat 80–100 sheets of A4 paper depending on absorption. Mixed solution keeps for several weeks in a dark, cool bottle.

• Part A: ferric ammonium citrate (green) at 200 g/L — 500 ml
• Part B: potassium ferricyanide at 80 g/L — 500 ml

How to use: mix equal parts A and B (no water added), brush onto paper, dry in the dark, expose under UV with a negative or object on top, wash in cold water until the unexposed sensitiser clears.

Compatible substrates: watercolour paper, fabric (cotton, linen, silk), wood, untreated natural fibres.
