Scans of Super 8 reel developed film
REEL – Super 8
Process Super 8 film at home
The REEL – Super 8 is the first Super 8 reel designed for the Paterson Multi-Reel 8 tank. Use it for black & white development with hand agitation, or pair with the AGO Film Processor for colour developing of C-41 and E-6. Also supports B&W reversal (Scala process)—use the LED Light for Super 8 reel or a light stick inside the translucent reel for the second exposure.
Each reel holds 50 ft / 15.24m. Built from chemical-resistant PETG, heat-safe to 50°C. Rinse after use and store dry.
- Minimum chemistry (rotary): 700ml
- Minimum chemistry (inversion): 2350ml

Frequently asked questions
The things photographers ask us most.
No for B&W. The reel includes a roller base so you can do hand-rotary development in a Paterson Multi-Reel 8 tank without AGO. For C-41 colour and E-6 slide film, AGO is recommended because temperature consistency matters for colour chemistry. B&W reversal (Scala) can also be done by hand.
The Paterson Multi-Reel 8 tank only. The reel holds one 50 ft / 15.24 m Super 8 cartridge and needs the full volume of an 8-reel tank. It does not fit smaller Paterson tanks.
700 ml for rotary processing with AGO. 2,350 ml for inversion or hand-rotary without AGO.
The included roller base sits on a flat surface and guides the film helically onto the reel in total darkness. Load from the cartridge straight to the reel. The step-by-step loading guide PDF is linked on the product page.
Yes. The second re-exposure step (required for B&W reversal) works by placing a light source inside the translucent reel body to expose the film evenly from within. The LED Light for Super 8 is the dedicated tool for this. Then continue with the reversal chemistry as normal.
One Super 8 reel, a roller base for hand-loading and hand-rotary development, and drying clips for hanging processed film.
