Frequently asked questions
The things photographers ask us most.
The second re-exposure step in B&W reversal (Scala) processing. After the first development and bleach stages, the film needs to be re-exposed to light before the second developer. The LED Light sits inside the translucent Super 8 reel body and exposes the film evenly from within.
Only if you are doing B&W reversal (Scala). For standard B&W negative, C-41 colour negative, or ECN-2 cine film development, there is no re-exposure step and you do not need it.
You can use a small LED strip inside the translucent reel body, but the LED Light is sized and designed specifically for even illumination across the Super 8 reel. Uneven re-exposure shows up as density variation in the processed positive.
2,000 mAh internal battery, charged via USB-C. Runs for several hours per charge, enough for multiple re-exposure sessions.
Yes. It is designed specifically for the VV REEL – Super 8. The reel's translucent PETG body allows the light to pass through and expose the film helically wound inside.
